Building Key Partnerships
Summary
FoodLab Detroit partners with other organizations who are also interested in fostering triple bottom line food businesses, but who offer a slightly different set of skills to these beneficiaries. One example is a partnership with Detroit Kitchen Connect, which is a shared food manufacturing space for food producers who lack the capital to purchase/rent their own. FoodLab's members often fit this profile and so the partnership proves to be valuable. Another key partnership is with Grown in Detroit, which is a urban agriculture network. This partnership allows FoodLab members to gain access to locally grown foods and vegetables. Note that these partnerships both fit closely into FoodLab's philosophy of helping local value chains connect, keeping as much money as possible within the city.
