Pumped Hydroelectric Power Storage


Pumped Hydroelectric Power Storage is another innovative method to smooth out energy surpluses and deficiencies. It follows a simple principal: During times where there is an energy surplus, this surplus is used to pump water from a reservoir located at a lower elevation, to another reservoir at a higher location where it can be held. Once a time is reached when there is power shortage, this water can be released from the upper reservoir and allowed to flow back into the lower reservoir. On the way though, it feeds through a turbine which produces energy.
