Online REDD+ Resource
The Global Canopy Programme (GCP) started The REDD Desk as a way to create an open and accessible repository for information regarding the UNs REDD+ Program. REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) is an effort to create a financial value for the carbon stored in forests, offering incentives for developing countries to reduce emissions from forested lands and invest in low-carbon paths to sustainable development. Because of the complex nature of this program, GCP created The REDD Desk.
Besides detailed information on REDD+ countries' initiatives, terms, and themes, The REDD Desk also serves as a place to generate and compare estimates for REDD credits up to 2025.
"The REDD Desk is the largest collaborative resource for REDD+ information, news and analysis on the web. In partnership with our global network we work to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders by centralising and clarifying complex information related to REDD+, which facilitates knowledge sharing, capacity building, and the development of new pathways towards equitable, effective and efficient REDD+ design and implementation."
